According to the new Visa policy, All Business or Holiday travelers must have ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) with effect from 1st January 2012. This is the way you can enter into the Srilanka.

What is a Sri Lankan Visa?
A Sri Lankan visa is an endorsement on a passport or a similar document to facilitate the legal entry of non Sri Lankans into the country and to regulate the period of their stay and the conditions governing such stay.
Basics of  Sri Lankan Visas?
Srilankan Visa comprise the four basic types to enter to Sri Lanka.

Visit Visa
This is such sort of Visa, which is offered by Sri Lankan Government with the consent to enter to the Sri Lanka. The Visa includes the details regarding period of time and conditions to stay. Under this category, you can have two types what you want which come under visit visas – Tourist Visit Visa
This is such sort of Visa, who want to come to Sri Lanka to enjoy, relax, entertainment, sightseeing places, visiting relatives, excursions, and relaxations.
Business Visit Visa
With the name its obvious that this sort of Visa is offered to the foreign nationals who want to come to Sri Lanka for short period of time and this visa can be single, double or multiple.

Photo Permits & Entrance Charges

Special Permits Required for special places only from 6 a.m to 10 a.m, as we know that Sri Lanka is a photographer’s delight.
Custom Imports

  • Allowed 1.5 litres of spirits
  • Two Bottles of Wine
  • Quarter litres of Toilet Water
  • Small Quantity of Perfumes
  • Souvenirs with a value noe exceeding US $250
  • Declare is must about cameras and laptop import

Custom Exports

  • Duty Free Tea Export up to 10kg is allowed
  • No Permission to Export Antique. Old Rare Books, Palm Leaf Manuscripts, anthropological material, special permission is required from the director.
  • Special Permission is required to purchase or export of birds, wild animals, reptiles, dead animals skins, horns, scales, or feathers. For Scientists, occasional exports are allowed. we need a special permissions to export 450 plant specieis.  The export of Coral, Marine products, or shells is not allowed.

Foreign Currency Regulations
Visitors to Sri Lanka bringing in more than US$10,000 should declare the amount to the Customs on arrival. All unspent rupees converted from foreign currencies can be re-converted to the original currency on departure as long as encashment receipts can be produced.

Health Precautions
There are different health risks in Sri Lanka as compare to European Countries. For Example, you have to look for precautions for vector borne diseases like dengue and malaria, diarrhoea and amoebic dysentery, and sometimes very rarely the fungal diseases  the  and a variety of fungal infections. Sri Lankan Doctors are expert and they can handle all sorts of diseases.
When You are There…..

Upset Stomach
Avoid non hygienic food or under cooked food when you are going to the rural areas. Under cooked food can be hazardous for your health. Peeled food should be avoided. Canned and branded water should be used..

Sunburn
It is best advised to used sun block cream to avoid sun burn with protection factor of at least  15.

Facilities for the Special People

Sri Lanka has the facilities for the special people or disabled people, so if someone wants to come without  companion then not a problem because Sri Lankan people are good and you can find the proper wheelchair assist services.

The Currency notes are available in 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000.

Sri  November to April are the best seasons to visit Sri Lanka, and South Western coastal areas where the most of the beach resorts are located. Kalpitiya has been declared as the new tourists attraction where hotels and new infrastructure has been designed.

What To Wear
Cotton Clothes as a best option while waterproof and light woolen clothes for the hilly areas. Comfortable shoes can make your journey comforting.
